The Lord Our God is Merciful

Reflections from our Regional Executive Director…

I am so glad that the mercies of God are new every morning. God is so faithful to each one of us. He is righteous in everything He does. I’ve been reading through the book of Daniel this past week and I was so moved by Daniel’s prayer in chapter 9. I want to make Daniel’s prayer our prayer –

“Now, our God, hear the prayers and petitions of your servant. For your sake, O Lord, look with favor on your desolate sanctuary. Give ear, O God, and hear; open your eyes and see… We do not make requests of you because we are righteous, but because of your great mercy. O Lord, listen! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, hear and act! For your sake, O my God, do not delay because your city and your people bear your Name.” (Daniel 9:17-19)

Aren’t you grateful for God’s great mercy? Aren’t you glad that we have access to God through Jesus Christ? Amen.

Praying for one another is such a privilege, and we as a family of churches want to be more intentional in our prayers for each other. And we would love for you to frequently share your prayer requests and praise reports with our prayer team – here’s an easy link to share right now.

Austin Axen’s Ordination

We are excited to share that Austin Axen, lead pastor of Living Oaks Church in Newbury Park, was ordained on January 31! After Doug Posey, founding pastor of LOC, transitioned in October to serve full-time with Global Training Network (GTN), Austin stepped into this role with energy and vision. Pastor Doug and Dave DeVries together delivered the ordination message (you can read Dave’s message on shepherding here).

Thank God for the Garden Church

We are so amazed by all that God is doing in our churches in the midst of the pandemic. One unexpected surprise was the departure of The Garden Church from our family of churches in the Western Region at the end of 2020.

After much prayer, they will be joining the Evangelical Covenant denomination. While this brings an end to partnering directly with our family of churches, we encourage you to pray for The Garden Church in this transition – we anticipate God will continue to draw many to Himself through this amazing church family.

We love Pastor David and Sharon Kim, Robert Lee, Daniel Kim, Susan Kim, Uran Wu, and Mike Yamamoto and The Garden Church! We thank God for you!
